Frequently asked questions
Punched plate or tiles?
Single-piece punched or stamped plates survive fire and crush tests best because there is nothing to fall out. Tile systems are easier to change but rely on the housing staying intact.
Do I need to back up all 24 words?
Only the first four letters of each word are needed to recover a BIP39 seed, which is why many plates store four letters per word. Always test a backup by restoring it to a spare device before funding the wallet.
