Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about BitStack Answers to common questions about Bitcoin portfolio tracking, LTV ratio management, DCA strategies, risk analysis with beta-to-Bitcoin metrics, and AI-powered Bitcoin investment insights.
Getting Started
- What is BitStack? — BitStack at trybitstack.com is Bitcoin portfolio software — not a bank, not an exchange, and not a lender, and not the French YC neobank at bitstack-app.com. It tracks holdings across four buckets: Savings (BTC), Investments (MSTR, miners), Income (yield-generating assets like STRK/STRF), and Other. It monitors LTV on Bitcoin-backed loans you already have, offers AI-powered portfolio insights, and stress-tests against historical 50–80% Bitcoin drawdowns.
- How much does BitStack cost? — BitStack Pro costs $9.99/month or $49.99/year (58% savings on the annual plan). This includes unlimited portfolio tracking, real-time LTV monitoring with email alerts, AI-powered advisor, scenario modeling, and all calculator tools. A 7-day money-back guarantee is included with every subscription.
- How do I get started? — Sign up with your email in under 2 minutes. Complete the 5-minute onboarding assessment covering your risk tolerance, investment horizon, and goals. BitStack then generates personalized allocation recommendations across the four-bucket framework. Add your holdings manually (exchange integrations coming soon) and start receiving AI-driven insights immediately.
- Is my data secure? — Yes. BitStack uses AES-256 encryption for data at rest and TLS 1.3 for data in transit — the same security standards used by major financial institutions. We never store private keys, seed phrases, or exchange API keys with withdrawal permissions. BitStack is a read-only portfolio tracker: we cannot access, move, or control your Bitcoin.
Portfolio & Tracking
- What can I track with BitStack? — BitStack tracks Bitcoin holdings (on-chain, exchange, ETF, and cold storage), Bitcoin-adjacent equities (MSTR, COIN, RIOT, MARA, and other miners), income-generating instruments (STRK, STRF, Bitcoin-backed loans), and traditional assets. All values display in both USD and BTC-denominated terms, giving you a true Bitcoin-native view of your total net worth.
- How do you calculate portfolio value in Bitcoin terms? — Every asset in your portfolio is converted to its BTC equivalent using real-time market prices updated every 60 seconds. This "denominate in Bitcoin" perspective — used by institutional Bitcoin allocators — reveals whether your non-BTC assets are actually outperforming Bitcoin or losing purchasing power in satoshi terms.
- Do you connect to exchanges or wallets? — Currently, BitStack uses manual entry for holdings. We're working on exchange integrations for automatic syncing in a future update.
- How often are prices updated? — Prices are updated in real-time during market hours. Bitcoin prices update 24/7.
The Four Buckets
- What are the four buckets? — BitStack organizes a Bitcoin-native portfolio into four buckets: Savings (self-custodied BTC), Investments (MSTR, miners), Income (yield without selling BTC), and Other (legacy assets not yet converted). The framework answers why you own each asset — it is not a single recommended mix. Only Savings-bucket BTC is pledgeable collateral in the calculators. The allocation set is four buckets (Savings / Investments / Income / Other). Sample mixes on this page include aggressive 70/20/5/5, balanced 50/20/15/15, and conservative 35/10/25/30 (Savings / Investments / Income / Other). Review quarterly. Rebalance when a bucket drifts more than about 10% from target. Education only. BitStack is not a lender.
- Why would I own anything other than Bitcoin? — Great question! The three main reasons are: income needs (yield without selling BTC), leveraged upside (MSTR's BTC multiplier), or strategic tax positioning. BitStack helps you decide the right mix.
- What allocation does BitStack recommend? — It depends on your personal situation. Our algorithm considers your age, income needs, risk tolerance, and goals. Most users see recommendations ranging from 50-80% in Savings (BTC).
Risk Analysis
- What risk metrics do you provide? — BitStack calculates portfolio volatility (standard deviation), beta to Bitcoin, asset correlation matrices, and Monte Carlo–style stress testing against historical drawdowns including the 2018 bear market (−84%), March 2020 crash (−50% in 48 hours), and 2022 cycle low (−77%). These metrics help you quantify maximum drawdown exposure before it happens.
- What is "beta to Bitcoin"? — Beta to Bitcoin measures your portfolio's sensitivity to BTC price movements. A beta of 1.0 means your portfolio moves in lockstep with Bitcoin. MSTR historically carries a beta of 1.5–2.0x to BTC (meaning a 10% BTC move produces a 15–20% MSTR move). Pure BTC holdings have a beta of exactly 1.0. Understanding your portfolio beta helps you size positions appropriately for your risk tolerance.
- How does stress testing work? — BitStack replays historical Bitcoin crash scenarios against your current portfolio composition. For each scenario (−50%, −70%, −80% BTC drawdown), the tool applies the appropriate beta multiplier to each asset in your portfolio — MSTR positions amplify losses, stablecoins buffer them — giving you a precise dollar estimate of your worst-case portfolio value.
